Wardrobe Colors That Work With Any Skin Tone
A handful of colors flatter almost every undertone — the trick is choosing the right version of each one for warm, cool, or neutral skin.
Navy
Softer than black but just as versatile. Warm undertones can lean toward a slightly faded, ink-blue navy; cool undertones can go for a crisp, true navy.
Olive and forest green
Warm undertones look great in yellow-based olive; cool undertones do better with a bluer-based forest or emerald green.
Burgundy
Warm undertones suit a brick-based burgundy; cool undertones suit a blue-based, wine burgundy.
Cream and off-white
Almost always more flattering close to the face than stark white, which can wash out warmer skin — cream works for nearly every undertone.
Is black flattering on everyone?
Black is safe and works on most people, but it can look harsh close to very fair or very warm skin — in those cases, swapping black for charcoal or espresso brown near the face softens the effect.
